Beautiful sunset, Ian. It looks cool and refreshing; wish I were there!
We are at 105F as we speak :/
that is not my favourite temperature
we are now at 15C at night
I would love (as would nearly all of America) to have your wonderful cool temperature!
The trees are already dropping their leaves.
New info: I'm watching the weather and it is now 106F where I am. In St. Louis, MO it is now 108F. The humidity is only 13 per cent. The weatherman says St. Louis has never has this low humidity in the summer.
thankfully we are having a very mild summer this summer
lots of rains and not too hot weather
everything is green and growing good
i am stuck in the city and this weather is a good surprise for me now
I am happy for you that Moscow temperatures are pleasant. It is wonderful to hear about the rains. I look forward to autumn and cool air.
Sorry you are stuck in the city. Do you ever go for a walk in the parks?
i am too restless to be satisfied by a mere walk in a park
at least i have got one park that is still looking like forest not concrete jungle
The parks in St. Louis are ugly. They are not natural. Trees and flowers are planted in patterns. It is not at all like the Moscow parks which have huge old trees.
But there is a river at least in St. Lois where one can stroll by... Still could be some relief from this terrible heat
The Mississippi River literally stinks from sewage and other pollution. Some people enjoy walking along the river in the St. Louis area, though. One dare not walk along the river after dark due to the high murder rate. They are pulling bodies out of the river often. I never go over there. St. Louis has nice places but none that I care to visit.
I am happy to stay here in Illinois across the river from St. Louis. I am not a city lover. I enjoy the peace of the farmlands. It was lovely last night about 10:30 PM with the half moon, gentle breeze and the sounds of crickets and cicadas.
I've been to St.L. once several years ago, but the weather was very nice that time. The river was flooding the quay... I didn't ran into any bodies, but recall that Heck Finn father's could be floating down some time earlier in this place...
I ventured by the bridge to the Illinois side but didn't get to the end of the bridge... it's too long.
There are several bridges leading from St. Louis into Illinois. Yes, they are long ones. Every now and then someone who is walking on one of the bridges is killed by traffic.
The story of Huck Finn is wonderful! I have not been to Hannibal, MO. where the story supposed is based. That was a different time in American history. So is Tom Sawyer.
What I love is the huge old houses that once stood up and down the river. But like most everything else, the old has been destroyed in the name of progress. I had a multi-millionaire aunt and uncle who owned two of those old houses and most of the town of Valmeyer, IL which was destroyed in Flood '93. They were well known during the 50's and 60's. They have been dead since the late 60's.
